Stock TBI unit flows 450cfm and that maxes out at around 250hp. These ultimate mods increases flow to 500cfm which maxes out at 275hp before it starts restricting power. Even a 383 with TBI heads will typically max out at around 280hp which is why I posted that head upgrades needs a bored throttle body which will flow 600+cfm.
Overall height of a 86-65 SWIRL head valve is 114 mm, 82-85 BATHTUB head valves are about 112 mm. Using a swirl head valve in a bathtub head will cause the the valves to stay open causing no compression. 2) Oversize journal cylinder heads. Mopar had a few screw ups in machining cylinder head cam journals.

  • AFTER (and I stress after) I get this system launched, I want to play with the TBI system on this rig. The cam I installed will work with TBI but is definitely better than OEM cams. TBI Heads do not flow very well, whereas the Vortec II's DO flow well, better than the Vortec I's. I will not be using an OEM wiring rig, but will make my own.

Cam, stage 2chip and exhaust mods are going to net you a good 50-60hp on that pathetic stock 180hp 350 TBI motor. (factory 210hp rating was a bit optimistic from my dyno testing) cam choice in my opinion is the most important decision you make on that engine as its not only the easiest way to screw up TBI injection but it also sets the whole attitude for how that engine is going to run and whether it has good low end power or strong mid range or strong top end power.
